Yesterday, Janet and I were called to a friend’s quaint in-town apartment to help with a rather stubborn presence. We stepped into the apartment, made our walk-through, and found ourselves standing back in the living room with an odd sensation. Although we were standing among cozy furniture and warm and loving belongings, we felt unwelcome. The cold feeling we were getting was a complete mismatch with what we were seeing.
With a bit more investigation we found the culprit in a corner of the room. We could feel the negative energy coming from that area, so I walked right up to the corner. As I approached, I felt like someone was grabbing the back of my neck. I didn’t mention this at first, and let Janet try out the corner. Then we exchanged our findings. She had felt the neck thing too!
We both agreed it was an Earth-bound spirit of a man, a rather angry man. Basically, he was an abusive asshole, and had been dominating most of the apartment and messing with our friend. His attitude was, “Fuck off! This is my place and I’m not leaving!”
As it has been in the past with male ghosts, I felt like I was being called to help him cross over. It’s been my experience that some male spirits listen to men more. The personalities of Earth-bound spirits are just as they were in life. Actually, they are often repeating the very worst behavior they had while living. So, this dude thought little of women when alive, and he continued his negative belief after death.
It was time to get the asshole out of there, but I was concerned. How do you convince someone with such a stubborn and negative attitude to go toward the light? He had an emotional investment in his unhappiness. It was his thing. It was what he had always done. It was as if I was asking him to give up his security blanket.
As Janet and I often do, I employed the help of an angel. I specifically asked for a male angel to escort this negative man to the other side. I didn’t ask for one in particular, but I immediately saw the strong masculine hand of an angel grab the man’s hand in a firm, supportive way. It wasn’t a forceful pulling; it was more like a football player helping his teammate up.
I still didn’t understand how this was going to work. People have free will, even those who have passed. This angry man had to decide to go on his own. No one could force him to cross over.
Then it happened. I felt a distinct change as the man’s anger was replaced by sadness. He had shifted to his boyhood and was crying. I could see him as a young boy, maybe 10, riding his bike. The time period appeared to be in the 50’s. Janet saw it too and described the scene perfectly saying it looked like an episode from the TV show Leave It to Beaver. He was crying for his mother. I could see her, a pretty, dark-haired woman in her 30’s, reaching her arms out for him.
I couldn’t see the full story, but I knew that he had experienced some sort of trauma regarding his mother and this trauma had hardened him. He had felt abandoned and had taken on anger as his companion ever since.
I immediately felt compassion for him, and could see why he would now want to cross over, to return to his mother’s arms. It was beautiful to experience. He moved up and out of the room to meet his mother and to quell his fear and heartache.
The room felt lighter. We could breath more easily. He had crossed.
Wow! I couldn’t have written such an ending! It made complete sense though. Is there not often sadness behind anger? Is there not a fear of greater loss behind manipulation?
That was a great experience for me. I don’t feel like I had anything to do with the angry ghost’s shift. I just think I was supposed to witness it in order to help other Earth-bound spirits who are trapped by their own fear. I believe it was the male angel who showed the man his sadness and made him understand that crossing over was the way to heal.
In the future, I will approach angry ghosts with some compassion, knowing that they are suffering. Thank you for this experience angel dude!
